AARC Staff are legendary and innovative in their approach to therapies used to aid the individual as well including support to the clients family/caretakers. I cannot stress highly enough the love and admiration I hold for every staff member there who have helped us in our Autism Journey. From Darla, Kevin and Troy in administration, Gaylan and Julie leading their team of wonderful therapists, to the one and only Miss Eileen at the front desk who listens and cares as sleepless parents sign in their child who seems to only need 2 hours of sleep at night some nights... All of the staff there are knowledgeable and genuinely care about everyone that passes through their doorway. We have been clients since they first opened their business. I tell everyone I know about how fantastic they are.

Having to make this post saddens me since our therapist has been so wonderful with our son, however the scheduling and administration here lacks professionalism and empathy. We have been enrolled in OT services here for the last 5 months. I have received late night and weekend calls/ texts to cancel or reschedule our son's standing weekly appointment for "scheduled staff meetings". I completely understand that sometimes things come up and appointments need to be shifted, but I should not be receiving a phone call or text the afternoon prior to reschedule or cancel my son's appointment for a staff meeting that has been scheduled for weeks. This has happened to us at least 4/5 times in the last 5 months. I brought it to the attention of Wendy Moorman, the Operations Manager, today and basically received backlash for even asking about it. "I thought it was fine" ... "We only see 3 patients during that time so that's why you keep getting rescheduled for our staff meeting" ... "I didn't think I needed to give notice since our meetings are typically the 2nd Tuesday of the month during your appointment time". No one mentioned we would need to reschedule our son's appointment one week per month in order to accommodate their staff meetings when we registered for services. Why was this not brought to our attention sooner? Why not apologize for the miscommunication? Instead she made it seem like this all was our fault for not knowing something we were never told. Also, when originally signing up for services here, we waited for almost a month after our evaluations without hearing anything from the facility. I finally decided to call and find out what the hold up was for establishing services (thinking that it may have been insurance related). Wendy said, "Well you put that you wanted Friday appointments on your paperwork, and we are closed on Fridays". Why not pick up the phone and call to see if we could make another day/ time work? Instead our son's services were needlessly delayed due to her lack of initiative and follow through with patient care. She made it clear our son's need for services were not her priority. She also made it clear that our time and lives outside of this 45 minute weekly session were not important enough to receive appropriate notice. We will not be returning to this clinic due to her unprofessional manner and inappropriate comments. I will be letting our referring pediatrician know, and will also be communicating with our military liaison to ensure others are not put in this situation again. Having a child with special needs is tough enough. It truly takes a village, and this one has seriously let us down.

We have been a part of the AARC family for two years now. When I first walked through these doors I was a scared mom very unsure of what the future held for my daughter. This facility has been nothing short of amazing and is a huge support system for our entire family. They provide extra events to help our child be included in Nuro-typical events like trick-or-treating and meeting Santa. From Ms. Eileen and the front who always greets us with a smile and keeps us organized, to Ms Gabby who has so much patience and has helped so much with her fine and gross motor skills. When we first started she couldn't even climb a two-step ladder to get on a slide unassisted. Now she is completing five step obstacle courses, lacing beads on pipe cleaners, learning to cut with scissors. I'm absolutely blown away. Ms. Ryan our OT who is doing pre-feeding with my girl endures so much sass and so much attitude but has my daughter eating things I never could've even imagined her trying. Ms. Patricia who us parents refer to as the device guru is very patiently working with my nonverbal girl to get her communicating with the device. These women have become part of our family. They celebrate all of our victories and are there to listen when we are really struggling. being a special-needs mom is such a scary adventure. But being a part of this facility has truly saved my life as

This place has the kindest staff and the most loving approach to persons with special or extra needs. They are very careful and cognizant of how they deal with people at every level, especially certain over stimulations or sensitivities. This is not a job that you can just hire people to do. This is something that must be a calling. The people at AAC truly are "called" to their gifts in this autism center! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
