Assess Hawaii

After being turned away/completely ignored by a few other offices to get screening for my child I reached out to Assess Hawaii. Just a few hours after leaving an inquiry I got a call from Ryan. He assured me that they took my insurance and scheduled my child the soonest screening available and put me on a waitlist in case I could get in sooner. He went above and beyond to explain to me what I need to make sure the process goes smoothly on his end and the insurance side. Very pleasant first impression from Assess Hawaii.

Today I have only been privy to the intake process. But it was stellar. Clear communication. Thorough gathering of information. Excellent explanation of the process. And superb customer service. The gentleman who helped with my intake process even stay after hours to ensure it was completed and I got the soonest possible appointment.

I went through their website to schedule an initial visit, but didn't receive word from them. Since they specify to follow-up directly after 48 hours, I called their office. A receptionist answered my call immediately and then asked if they could call me right back because they had a client. Since I'm not unreasonable, I said "Of course," and made sure he had my number to return the call. What is unreasonable is that after 2 hours, I still hadn't received a call back. When I called the office again, someone answered the phone, muted themselves, and left me on the receiver. They did not say hello or ask me if I could briefly wait to be helped. I was hoping that there was some other issue at hand, but the phone call lasted for 5 minutes indicating no problem with the phone line. While these practitioners may be great, the business itself treats people terribly if my experience is worth anything. Do yourself a favor and find other doctors to care for you before you give your hard earned money to this business.

Although it was personally challenging for me to speak over the phone to start the process, the admin was so very kind and understanding. I didn't realize they sort of needed to speak with me in person although I do so much better in writing, especially if I have anxiety. I tend to put my foot in my mouth and alienate people, so I was really glad the person I spoke to was understanding. I'm really hoping they can help me.

I had some testing done for my daughter and needed further assessments and they got back to me the same day. They took the time to get my info on the phone and set an appointment in a timely matter since we had to meet with the school next month. Thankful for friendly staff to help us with our journey.

The actual assessment is pretty thorough. I’d say that they were quick to schedule and evaluate me but the results took a while longer than I anticipated. The communication with the psychiatrist was a bit troublesome. I appreciate the time and effort they put into the actual testing but the rest was stressful.
