When we began services, my 5 year old son's communication was limited to a few memorized phrases like "I want orange juice" and "I want box." While he could label hundreds of items in pictures. he struggled to use them in conversations. After my initial discussion with Donna, I realized that he was a gestalt learner, understanding better when seeing the whole picture rather than piecing together individual parts. Within just two months with Donna, he advanced from learning new phrases -or gestalts- mitigating them and creating new sentences independently. This progress in language also led to increased socialization with me and my husband, grandparents and his older sister- we were finally all speaking the same language.
