Claim your listing! We have a 9.5 yr old son with a rare genetic disorder and complex medical needs with developmental delays and hypotonia (low muscle tone). He has been a client in both physical and occupational therapy of Pediatric Therapies Hawai’i ever since they first opened. Their team of dedicated and knowledgeable therapists have helped him achieve numerous huge developmental milestones, such as crawling, walking unassisted, climbing stairs, sensory integration, hand strengthening, ability to write and trace and so much more. Each session is creatively individualized and tailored to the child’s current goals to engage and motivate them through play based learning. They have clean and organized facilities with innovative, fun therapy equipment and medical devices at each location in Makawao, Wailuku, and Lahaina. They have also helped us borrow essential medical devices through their own equipment sharing program or obtain our own through insurance, by providing in depth referrals and assessments. With their help over the years, our son has had access to adaptive equipment such as, standers, gait trainers, walkers, bath chairs, wheelchair/strollers, and orthopedic devices such as spine braces and AFO’s/ SMO’s. Any special needs family knows how hard it can be to battle with insurance over these necessary devices and we have always been grateful that our son has had the equipment and therapy services he needed to conquer his goals. We never knew if he would ever walk, but now he is practically running and loving his newfound independence. Owner Amy, has been dedicated to servicing the needs of all keiki on this island and expanding locations and adding service providers so that no child gets left behind as early intervention is always best. We appreciate all you do! Thank you PTH for being like family to us over the years!

I do not ever leave reviews but wholeheartedly felt I had to for this one because it can have affect on children’s livelihoods. Our previous therapist left and our new therapist has repeatedly not continued goals and exercises we were working on even after asking. Our therapist does not seem happy with my child or when I ask questions so I have sat back to observe to determine if therapy should be continued. While observing it became interesting and apparent that the therapist and not only ours seemed stressed or miserable. The children here have some severe symptoms and maybe that is too hard? When our visit was done I heard a therapist ( not ours ) conversation with another therapist and it was not good. I think they are miserable and it is too much work? That is what a partial of the convo was. Therefore we chose to discontinue services and go elsewhere because our child deserves someone that will stick to goals so there is no progression and will love what they do because it shows in the work. I am sorry that it is not good here and the therapist are mad or unhappy. I can understand the difficulty so I am sorry for this review but parents should be aware before choosing care for their child. What a loss for a big company and the children that may go here.

First off, 5 stars for the therapist and the employees who are absolute gems. My review is not based on them but on the company’s policies and the way they run this place to the ground. First, my son’s appointment has been cancelled many times. I was never able to reschedule because his appointments are on my only day off and I’ve set my work schedule according to their availability from the start. They used to be okay with this. Now, they cancel my appointment again and switched it to teletherapy as if I have no choice. I inform them we won’t do teletherapy because my som isn’t a fit for it. They continue to push for it asking if I’m sure and how it can be a success. I said no, I am his mother and I have a choice. You should ask me instead of telling me it will be teletherapy instead as if I have no choice. Then, when I have to cancel an appointment last minute like they do to me CONSTANTLY all the time, they want to charge me a $75 late cancellation fee. Are you serious?!!!! Where is the integrity, fairness and accountability in this policy??!!! My sons first therapist quit. His second therapist quit. His third therapist quit. All in maybe 6 months? Now the front desk lady quit. All very hardworking kind employees quitting. Why? I was told after I left and reconnected with our previous therapist that it’s the owner and her policies and working her employees to the ground. Forcing appointments on people and punishing employees for not rescheduling resulting in too full schedules for therapists that are unmanageable and wiping them out. This is not about the kids. It’s about money. This is Hawaii. Not the mainland. We have a cultural standard we must uphold to assure the people that provide amazing help to our community is being taken cared of and considered. If you are not from here, you probably don’t understand it. It’s the culture of many many places. People first, money comes after. These amazing people is what makes the business run. I have since discharged my son and moved on to my previous therapist who is happy, not overworked, and making way more money than the low wages this company pays their employees. It is ridiculous. Do not send your kid here! They will chase you to make up appointments and if you can’t do it because of LIFE the employees get in trouble. And if you do schedules to fill that open spot, the therapist are being completely overworked. Think about it. True great care means a happy therapist and business. There are other places on Maui that these therapist have ventured to. I left a voicemail for HR, advised by a previous employee, to explain this frustration for Maui and the kids and great people and have not gotten a call back. I bet she’s overworked too.

We brought our infant here for physical therapy due to tight neck muscles that were limiting full head rotation. We did receive some helpful guidance and exercises to use at home, which we appreciated. That said, having a newborn in physical therapy is already emotionally and physically challenging, and the overall environment made it harder than it needed to be. Our baby understandably cried during sessions, and on one occasion a staff member came in, closed the door, and gave us a very uncomfortable, disapproving look. That moment made us feel judged rather than supported. Appointments were scheduled for one hour, but because our baby was often uncomfortable, she was actively worked with for only about ten minutes per session. We did our best to adjust our schedule and make things work, but the setup didn’t feel well-suited for infants. In the end, I am honestly relieved that we were discharged. While we did get some useful information, the experience lacked the patience, compassion, and flexibility that families with newborns truly need.

This place is amazing! My son was very nervous his first couple visits, but he got used to it. They really work with your child and get to know them and their needs. I like that once they see my son gets a little overwhelmed they redirect him to a different activity that he also likes and can learn from. He's grown and learned a lot from the sessions that we've had with Julia. Since my son isn't a social person, I'm glad he got used to Auntie Julia. She is amazing at what she does and I am appreciate everything she has done to help him grow.

My son has been in speech therapy with Miss Valeria for just over a month and we have already seen noticeable progress. She is incredibly patient, engaging, and my son looks forward to his sessions. We are so grateful for the positive impact she has already had on his communication skills. I highly recommend Miss Valeria to any family looking for a dedicated and caring speech therapist.

Great Strides Therapy Center has truly changed our lives. My daughter receives PT, OT, Speech, Music, Feeding Therapy, and ABA here, and I cannot say enough good things about this incredible place. From the very first moment you walk in, you feel the love and care—starting with Colleen at the front desk, who is an absolute godsend. As a single mom, I truly cannot express how much she—and all of you—mean to me. The kindness, support, understanding, and encouragement I receive here goes far beyond therapy appointments. Every single staff member is amazing—truly compassionate, loving, and dedicated people who care so deeply about the children and families they serve. Giulia, Morgan, Desiree, Jennifer, Amber, Kaylin, Jacquelyn, and Valeria—you have all blessed my life more than words can express. This team has become our village. I trust them completely and wholeheartedly with my daughter, and that means everything to me. I know without a doubt that they always have my baby’s best interests at heart. Because of them, she has grown so much, and I am endlessly grateful. I wouldn’t trust my daughter with anyone else. Truly the most amazing group of people—my mother and I consider them family. Thank you, Great Strides, for all that you do and for loving my daughter (and me) so well.

A Truly Amazing Therapy Center I cannot say enough wonderful things about my son’s therapy team at GSR. His speech, ABA, and OT therapists have made such a positive impact on his progress, confidence, and daily life. Each therapist is patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping him grow. We have seen real improvement, and we always feel supported and understood. The front desk experience is just as exceptional. Mrs. Colleen is absolutely amazing—warm, welcoming, and always so helpful. She remembers every detail and makes each visit feel easy and stress-free. Her kindness truly sets the tone for the whole office. We are incredibly grateful for everyone here. Thank you for all that you do for our son and our family!

I took my newborn son to Great Strides Pediatric Rehabilitation, and the experience exceeded every expectation. As a mom, I’ve been through the early stages before, but every child is different — and this time, we needed some extra support. From our very first visit, the staff made us feel completely at ease. They were warm, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. Our favorite therapists Giuli took the time to truly understand my son’s specific needs and created a personalized plan that made a noticeable difference. Week after week, we watched him grow stronger and hit milestones we were once worried about. She didn’t just work with him — she encouraged us as a family and always made sure we felt involved and understood. The care at Great Strides goes beyond professionalism — it’s filled with heart. I can honestly say they’ve played a huge role in setting my son up for success, and we’re forever grateful. We still have a long way to go with his rehab but I know with this team on our side our journey will be much easier!
