My son went to Waypoint for a year and a half and overall, we were pleased with the center, even if therapists rotated a bit more often than our liking and he occasionally had a therapist he really didn't like. We saw some progress with our son's development and liked the BCBA. What we were NOT okay with was forcing us to compromise on our values. Our son was assigned a trans therapist and the center didn't ask us if we were fine with it, much less tell us about it. To each their own, but we don't feel someone with this identity is appropriate for a role where they are responsible for someone's development—at least not without asking the parents for consent. Furthermore, the staff would often wear pro-LGBT shirts and gave my son confusing messaging that conflicted with our Christian faith. This is entirely inappropriate. We dealt with it for months because of how difficult and time-consuming it is to transfer to a different ABA therapy center (due to insurance roadblocks), but we shouldn't have had to make a moral decision in the first place to get my son the help he needs. We are now at a different center that aligns with our beliefs.
