Achieve Beyond - Virginia/Metro DC

I have 2 boys on the Autistic Spectrum. They were really struggling with behavior in school. We met Gina in Florida, when I choose to homeschool. ln a happy turn of events, we ended up in Fairfax and Achieve Beyond with Gina again. During that time, they received 12 hours of therapy a week. The therapists at Achieve Beyond, all of them, were gentle, patient, and truly cared for my boys . They became family to us. When the boys returned to school, while continuing therapy, there were no more discipline problems! Our relationships improved so much! I can not express the difference they made in our lives. Thank you Achieve Beyond!

Initially, he faced significant communication challenges and exhibited considerable frustration. Thanks to the exceptional care and expertise of the clinical director and her team of BCBAs, he has made significant strides in developing his communication skills and managing his frustrations effectively. The entire team at Achieve Beyond consistently demonstrates a high level of professionalism, dedication, and genuine compassion. Their commitment to creating a supportive and therapeutic environment is evident, particularly in the well-designed and stimulating sensory gym. Gina worked with our son and was just fantastic!!! She helped him tremendously in his early formative stages and was also wonderful with us, always taking the time to answer our questions, go over his lesson plan and was always one of his absolute favorite people to see! We honestly could not recommend Gina highly enough for working with any kids that might need some help getting started learning.

I am thrilled to share my experience at Achieve Beyond , in Fairfax VA. My son had sensory issues, and problem behaviors when he started therapy there. The quality of services provided was outstanding, with a dedicated focus on both ABA therapy and occupational therapy tailored to meet his individual needs. They did not change him as an individual but gave him (and us as parents) the tools he needed to cope with the environment around him. The expertise of the staff, particularly BCBA Ms. Gina and her team of RBTs, were incredibly helpful for both my son and myself as a parent. He is now thriving in school with good grades, at home with daily chores, and having positive experiences in activities outside the house. I witnessed a rewarding impact on my son’s development and behaviors during our time there. Overall, I highly recommend this clinic to others seeking similar support.

Please be cautious before enrolling your child at this ABA center. They can—and will—discharge your child without proper notice, warning, or communication. After over a year and three months of consistent therapy, my son was abruptly dropped during a medication transition, following a single incident of aggression. They first cited “limited therapist availability” and cleared out his weekly schedule. Then, on day three, they sent an email stating he was no longer a fit for their setting. Yes—via email. No meeting, no data review, no professional discussion about discharge. Just a vague explanation that his behavior showed “increased aggression.” Ironically, I had just met with the director the week prior—yet there was no mention of concerns or that he might be removed. For context: both my husband and I are data scientists. We reviewed the data ourselves. Nothing supported the decision to discharge. Here’s what really happened: My son previously attended from 9 AM to 3 PM during the school year, but the center only provided three hours of therapy per day, far below his recommended 25 clinical hours per week. Once we found a school that better suited his needs, we requested a shift to evening sessions. That’s when the problems started. Suddenly, he wasn’t convenient anymore. He could no longer fill a daytime slot. Shortly after, they replaced him with a “better fit”—one who could fill their schedule more neatly. This is not a center focused on your child’s growth or well-being. This is a business—one that prioritizes operational convenience over compassion or progress. And yes, this behavior center dropped a child because of his behavior. That says everything you need to know about their commitment to helping kids with special needs. To make matters worse, the only truly compassionate and capable director they had recently left. That was the final red flag. If you want a place that sees your child as more than just a time slot, look elsewhere.
