My review is based off how I was made to feel as a prospective client. We placed our Non verbal Autistic son on the waiting list where we waited for about 8-10 months for a chance to enroll. The facility calls us to schedule a walk through so we can make our decision. Unfortunately the night before we were scheduled to have a walk through, our 3 year old who was the prospective client suffered a serious seizure in his sleep. He was rushed from our home in an ambulance and spent the day at Children’s Mercy. It was found that he had Covid and RSV (probably from school) which triggered a really high fever out of no where that caused the seizure. I called up to this facility (left a message because they were closed) to let them know what was going on and requested that someone call me back to let me know our options as far as rescheduling the walk through or even just putting him back on the waitlist if a reschedule couldn’t be done. To my shock, no one at this facility ever got back to me. I never got contacted to reschedule or to get put back on the waiting list but, the worst thing is they didn’t care enough to even call and show empathy for my son which could have easily been a quick sentence with a call back for the rescheduling. To me, the lack of concern and follow up gave me the impression that they are only about money. They were more worried about moving up the list and getting someone in that open spot than they were about being human and good business people by calling back to explain my options for enrollment after such a traumatic event. For context, this took place about a year ago but with all the things I have on my plate, I’m just remembering to leave the review. Regardless of when it happened, this is my experience.

My son has recently started attending this Clinic/Center. At first I was VERY nervous after seeing some *ONE star reviews here on google*. But as a mama; I was nervous but after a visit to the Clinic; I wanted to give it a try because it seemed like a good healthy environment! Which I am SO GLAD I did give expressions a chance to work with my son! Expressions has been an AMAZING experience for us. My two almost three year old autistic son LOVES this Clinic. He loves it so much; he doesn’t want to leave! We’ve had an amazing experience with the staff & overall Clinic. They make sure my son is very well taken care of & he is HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY when we pick him up. *despite not wanting to leave* lol. We are SO EXCITED to watch him continue to learn & grow at Expressions Clinic! We are so thankful for their heart warming staff & their FUN environment!! I definitely WOULD recommend this Clinic! Call & get on their waitlist! You will NOT be disappointed!!

My son Has attended Expressions Behavioral Healthcare for about 3 years now. Levi was diagnosed level 3 autistic when he was 2.5 years old. My son would run away(elope) from our home. He had been brought home by police once, ran off two other times. He didn't speak at all. His meltdowns would vary; some extreme aggression, and others were mute/completely disengaged. Levi hasn't had an issue with eloping for a long time now. His speech has skyrocketed. He has basic conversations with me. When Levi is upset, he says that he's angry. He will tell me when someone has hurt him physically or emotionally. That has been my biggest fear for him starting school. He says please and thank you. He has played with other kids(which has continued to be a struggle for him) without being directed or coached into. The work and guidance that the Expressions team has given Levi and I has changed his life. I can't say where Levi would be without them, and I'm glad that I don't have to. They all love my son like he is theirs. I don't feel safe letting many people have Levi. After meeting Stephanie and Beth, I had those anxious uncertain feelings dissipate. Beth has always been amazing to Levi and I. I cannot give enough gratitude to this place. I know Levi is going to be another success story to come from them and we are just soooo grateful.

My boys have attended Expressions for two years now. The love, care, hard work, and dedication this team has put into helping my boys grow and succeed is beyond words. I am incredibly grateful for their commitment to my children, to myself through parent training sessions, and what I have witnessed to one another as staff. The entire team, especially Stephanie, has always provided great resources for new opportunities for my boys and has welcomed any outsourced therapy into their clinic. For example, we did trial runs with AAC devices through Ability KC and the entire team embraced these training sessions so they could be knowledgeable and equipped to handle the care my boys needed. I absolutely recommend Expressions. The level of care they provide to the children in their care make you feel more like family than a medical clinic.

This is a wonderful place that puts your kid’s safety first! They are huge advocates for those who can’t defend themselves and work with parents who actually want to improve their child’s lives. They work on so many skills and really do an amazing job.
