Kelberman

Our son was on the waitlist for services shortly after Kelberman established a presence in Utica. Although we were said to be near the top of the waitlist, we never got services even 18 months later. Part of the problem is that Kelberman didn't have a mechanism to bill Medicaid. Moreover, we had out-of-state health insurance through an employer for some of the 18 months, and that insurance excluded coverage for ABA services. Even after I landed with private medical insurance that did cover ABA services, I got the run-around from Kelberman's one director. I eventually told this director to take a hike in an email. Ironically, I copied one of Kelberman's clinicians on this final email, and this clinician left a couple voicemails to propose that she could work out services for my son somehow. But I was already so done with Kelberman that I never returned the calls. Five years later we reached out again to Kelberman for services. They called to ask us if we received an intake packet that never reached us, and we also got a follow up call. Two return calls to Kelberman yielded nada, and we haven't heard from Kelberman since. For as much as our kids need these types of services, I caution against grovelling for them. You should have some self respect and focus on doing the best you can for your child. There are other professionals out there, and you don't need to work with a loser organization.
