During my first few months in MENTOR everything seemed alright. My Mentor and I didn't socialize much, but things seemed alright until the next few months when I seen that she wasn't fit to take care of me. Despite requesting so little with things like food she didn't always really buy or feed me with the proper diet, such as fruit and vegetables most times I was fed starchy and junk foods and soley things like stuffing. At least once or twice she insulted and the conditions in the house were unhealthy at best with the bathroom almost being inhospitable. She has also lied several about me towards my coordinator whom was also very unprofessional by taking sides and being neutral. I was never comfortable with the MENTOR group as my coordinator, MENTOR and as of recently my coordinator's supervisor have accused or insulted my functionality and independence and refuse to admit their mistakes. However I will say that my MENTOR was alright sometimes, I felt comfortable during respite with an a nice elderly couple, as they catered and took care of me giving the proper hospitality and were great with communication. In conclusion the MENTOR program is a sheep in wolf's clothing (to me at least from my experience) from every point I was labeled or treated as the typical austistic or special needs individual. For that I wouldn't recommend MENTOR to most, but it us your choice to make as I am aware there are a lot of good joes in the program. So if you don't like or if you do then just express yourself about it.
