Claim your listing!I had to “voluntarily” sign myself into the thrive center and was not allowed to leave until three days later, even though it was making everything worse, but when I would explain that, it didn’t matter. The only way they would release me was after I agreed to take medication and tell my parents even though I am an adult, and my parents live 100+ miles away and knew nothing about my situation. This was probably the worst experience of my life, and anytime I think about it, I want to burst into tears.

I loved my psychiatrist but the office staff suck. I had to go to a new doctor because of school and time. I also moved two hours away, well they were contacted a month ago to send test results that I had over two years ago and somehow fumbled the ball. Then said they didn’t have test results to my nurse, but when I called they are magically there. Also the fact they put her on hold forever and didn’t answer my call and had to call be twenty minutes later. Figure your stuff out

My experience with the behavioral health unit was through the eyes of my stay at the thrive center. During my hospitalization I was extremely manic and in the midst of a psychotic episode, I wasn’t at all myself. I feel there are some people I need to mention that went above and beyond their duties as healthcare workers to make me feel safe in a strange environment. Dr. Baula, you’re a stand up and stand out psychiatrist. Thank you for helping me through what I know now was intense paranoia and working with me to find a balance of meds that worked for my condition. Amanda and Mandy on the night team, you both took the time to help me through my nighttime anxiety attacks, which I am so grateful for, as my nighttime anxiety can be very intense. Erin and Abby, you both reminded me of dear friends I have, and your presence worked wonders in bringing me back down from my mania. Bri and Julia, you’re amazing therapists, and although I dissociated through much of my visit, I remember your willingness to listen and help me fondly. Keely and Jen, the nurses who checked me in, your patience with me was great, and you both brought me so much comfort. Elizabeth, thank you for advocating for me so fiercely. I believe you took me seriously at a time when some others may not have, or seen the severity of my condition for what it was, and I am so grateful for it. And most of all, thank you to Kaitlyn, the therapist in the ER who I immediately clicked with that ensured I felt comfortable at the most vulnerable point thus far in my life. Although I don’t remember much of my visit, I know that I was difficult. The fact that all of these healthcare workers were able to get through to me during an intense episode of psychosis, and make a real positive difference, demonstrates the highest level of care in their work. They should all be appreciated and thanked.

Baptist Behavioral Health is a blessing to this community. My family has been treated here for nearly 3 years and have never had a negative experience. We leave appointments feeling heard, understood, validated, and are taught positive impactful behavioral modification techniques to thrive in our daily lives. Our hope is that this practice continues to grow because our community is in desperate need of quality behavioral health practitioners like Jennifer Whittington and her care team, including her kind receptionists.

Really impressed with this place. I’ve been going about 2 months now and from the moment I called to make an appointment it’s been a pleasurable experience. I got in to see a psychiatrist very quickly which is hard to do especially during the pandemic. The girls in the office are also super sweet which is always a plus when you’re a new patient somewhere. Seen the psychiatrist who referred me to 2 other specialists as well who also got me in very quickly! I see Trenten Hale and he’s great. Super chill dude and doesn’t make you feel like you’ve got to be someone you’re not around him like some doctors, psychiatrist, etc have made me feel in the past. The student that works with him is also so sweet, you can tell both of them have a passion for what they do. I hope I’m able to continue my care for my mental health here for awhile. They definitely have a great team here!
