Indiana enacted its autism insurance mandate (HEA 1588) in 2001, making it one of the earliest states to require coverage for ABA therapy. The mandate covers individuals under age 22 with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. Indiana has a growing network of ABA providers, with the largest concentration in the Indianapolis metropolitan area, followed by Fort Wayne and Evansville. Indiana University's Indiana Resource Center for Autism (IRCA) provides statewide training and support. The state's relatively lower cost of living compared to coastal states has attracted several national ABA companies to establish operations in Indiana.
Insurance Coverage for ABA in Indiana
